Hello World,First these are stock photos. I was driving and took no pics. Yesterday was Earth Day and my daughter wanted to go to a National Park to be with Nature. I picked her and her friend up in the Astro Van and we headed out to a Warm Sunny with patches of fog day.
First up was Highway 92 West over the San Mateo Bridge. The view from the bridge was great today. You could see San Francisco sticking up over the horizon and Mount Tamalpais further on. High clouds. Traffic was Light and in no time we were up the ridge to 280 North. From this point on we were in the Golden Gate National Recreation area and Parks within it. With Lake San Andres(Crystal Springs Reservoir) to the left surrounded by the San Mateo Water Shed Forrest.
We stayed on 280 north then exited onto Skyline which we took up to San Francisco with views of the Pacific to the left and the bay to the Right. We stayed on this till we got to the San Francisco Zoo and then took Lake Merced Drive around to Sunset Drive which we took into Golden Gate Park.
In Golden Gate Park there were many events going on for Earth Day. Plus there was a March up Market street with 30,000 folks marching to save Science.
Then east to Park Presidio, through the Presidio and onto the Golden Gate Bridge which was crowded with people walking the bridge on the right or the city side and Bikes on the Ocean side. A wonderful day for it. Traffic has been unbelievable. Only minor delays.
When we got the Marin side we continued up 101 north Thru the Rainbow Tunnels and down into Sausalito bay. We then exited for Mill Valley/ Mount Tamalpais/Stenson Beach.
The road up out of Mill Valley opens up to some of the best vistas looking out one minute on a primal forest valley, Then a distant view of San Francisco followed by the Pacific Ocean. When we hit the crest line we chose down through redwoods with waterfalls and streams coming down narrow canyons.then suddenly we're down in Olema, Dogtown, Stentson Beach. We went along the shore line of a shallow bay. It was low tide and mostly mud with some streams through it. Along these streams some people and seals were fishing. and then the Point Reyes Seashore. But we drive on and turn inland on old Sir Francis Drake Blvd. Soon we are deep in Samuel P. Taylor Park.
